Filipinos Tap Into Social Media Know-how For Relief Efforts (+vi

Rolling video into social media

Still, many remain unconvinced, and are turning to boutique aid operations that are often organized by a friend or a friend of a friend. You know who is putting together the aid and you can trust what they say they are doing with the money, says Gari Buenauista, a Manila resident who says he'd been inspired by the calls to action he's seen through social networking sites. He and a friend came to the grandstand at Villamor Air Base in Manila, looking for opportunities to volunteer. Normally used for reviewing military parades, these days the grounds more closely resemble a convention center hosting a lively trade show for grass-roots aid projects. The dense array of booths offer small comforts from home courtesy of volunteer purveyors. There are stations with stylists offering free haircuts, tech companies offering complementary cellphone recharging hubs, and massage therapists offering neck and shoulder rubs by far the most popular booth with an incoming flight of evacuees. Other residents of Manila have shown up with their cars, offering free rides to bring anyone to anywhere, says Faith Erasmo. In the Philippines, it is a phenomenon called bayanihan. Social Media Is Becoming THE Place For Video Discovery, And That's Great News For Brands

Mobile connections With the proliferation of so many mobile devices fueling new and easy ways to create and share video, much of it through social media platforms, it's easy to see why some view mobile as the final catalyst to launching a deluge of video and video watching. YouTube reports that mobile views account for 25% of the global watch time on that platform , and according to Unlocking the Power of Multimedia Content , a new ebook from PR Newswire, people used mobile devices to watch 10% of all online video during Q1 2013. The YouTube presence As the dominant video platform, YouTube is a likely starting point for enterprises and brands looking to expand their presences in video. According to Sendible's Social Media Comparison 2013 , YouTube is good for customer communication, brand exposure, and SEO, and is "okay" for generating traffic to a website. That places it on par with Google+ in all categories compared by Sendible, and equally as effective in brand exposure as Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn.
visit http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/social-media-in-the-enterprise/rolling-video-into-social-media/

Greenville man arrested after he posted dog beating video on social media

Nowadays it's all about seeing what videos friends have posted on social channels. For brands, that means the potential for "earned media" is significant. If a video is compelling enough, they won't have to pay to show it to consumers; consumers will do that sharing themselves on social channels. Moreover, consumers are more likely to remember the brand involved if they came across it thanks to a social media recommendation. In a recent report from BIIntelligence , we look atthe power of social video and its growth trajectory, examine social video audiences and their demographics, analyze how marketers and advertisers are getting into the mix, compare the major social video platforms, anddetail how social is influencing video as a content medium.
visit http://www.businessinsider.com/social-media-drives-online-video-viewing-2013-11
